Miss Marti’s House

Miss Marti’s House is the urban ministry of Into The Neighborhood.  Since 2005, we lived, served, loved and worked in Southern Barton Heights in the inner-city of Richmond, VA. This blog (started in 2010) tells our story – how we ended up living just a 1/2 mile from the largest public housing complex between Baltimore and Atlanta.  We share our life and ministry together in our neighborhood, Southern Barton Heights in Richmond, Virginia.

Our Way of Life is based on Romans 12:1-2   The Message (MSG)

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

Different ways we do life together at Miss Marti’s House….

  • Weekly – Tuesday Night Fellowship at 6:30 in partnership with LIFE Transformation Church.
  • January – New Year’s Day Community Breakfast and Open House
  • Spring – Mardi Bras and Drive By Joy
  • Summer – Community Cookouts and FirePits
  • Fall – Halloween Fun
  • December – Christmas Caroling and other activities

What’s important…is loving your neighbor while building relationships. This is where we live out what we are advocating for at Into The Neighborhood
